Welcome to ChromaCrabs® Lite the introductory version of ChromaCrabs® at Sunshine Bay, a new and innovative Educational Piano Game. Enjoy the first three songs. ChromaCrabs® at Sunshine Bay is a unique multi-user piano teaching app designed for school and home use and available for the iPad. The app combines our unique, fun and colourful crab notation with new technology. With spoken instructions, onscreen interactive keyboard and marked scoring, it revolutionizes the way children learn, creating the opportunity for every child to learn the piano!

Suitable for school years 1 to 6 (Ages 5 - 11) and for many pupils with special needs, it is designed to make learning piano easy, accessible and fun! Through the onscreen coloured keyboard and ingeniously designed crab music notation, the 7 colourful ChromaCrabs will take children on a musical adventure. 15 nursery rhyme tunes are sung and played, with fun new lyrics telling the story of the ChromaCrabs at Sunshine Bay.

To the child ChromaCrabs is a fun and interactive game which needs very little instruction from an adult. Underneath, it is the start of a carefully thought out teaching system, designed from 15 years of piano teaching experience. Our multi-user feature enables individual scoring for each player with each song carefully graded. There are 5 marked stages taking you through warm ups, learning the notes, tapping out the rhythm, and finally putting it all together.

Our plans for the future include e-books and printable resources to complement the app, along with further apps in the ChromaCrabs series. Keep updated by visiting our website or Like our Facebook page.

“Pupils who learn musical instruments out-perform students who do not learn music in areas of intelligence, developmental skills, academic performance, and social skills. Furthermore, they are able to transfer their music knowledge and skills to other areas of academic excellence.” British Journal of Music Education (1999), 16:123-138 Cambridge University Press

A study conducted by the Beijing Normal University showed that this is especially true for children starting before the age of 7.

So come and try it out, its great fun to use!
